Did you know that Bohemian Rhapsody is the #1 most streamed song from the 20th century?! That's right, we've collectively yelled "Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo" more than 1.6 billion times. But can you believe that it almost wasn't released?! The recent movie that swept this year's award season tells the story of how Freddie Mercury became an icon and the legendary song overcame the odds and made history.
I had always loved Queen's music, but I never knew the story behind it. Since VH1 let us down, we had to wait for Bohemian Rhapsody, the movie to release in 2018.
First of all, if you haven't seen it, you better rent it this weekend. It was so good that I saw it twice. Rami Malek more than deserved the Oscar and Golden Globe for his performance.
What stood out most to me about the entire movie was the fact that Freddie and his bandmates, went against the grain, which isn't always the easy path. They took risks and were willing to think outside the box of the current musical norms. They were different.
In the movie, the record executive played by an incognito Mike Myers (nice nod), didn’t want to release Bohemian Rhapsody as the single.
He said there was no way anyone would play at 6 minute song. It was too weird. Too different. And it didn’t follow their formula.
The stuffy record exec didn’t want to roll the dice, instead he wanted them to play it safe and release My Best Friend. It's honestly one of my favorite Queen songs, but definitely not as iconic as Bohemian Rhapsody.
So Queen stuck to their creative vision and walked out on the record exec. The rest is history. They dared to be different. And it paid off.

Sure it may not be for everyone, but honey icons aren’t made by following the crowd, so you do you. I mean really do you.
To be a smash hit you gotta stop trying to fit in, own every bit of your awkward shit, and take the chances that others aren't willing to take.
When I first had the idea for The Social Celebrity brand, people didn't understand it because it was different from what everyone else was doing & when I first started my network marketing business people laughed and made fun of me. Now I'm a certified 7 figure earner. 💁🏻♀️
If you wanna be a Queen, you gotta show up like one.
